Default Optimal way to convert pounds to euros in Portugal?

In the UK there are companies like Moneycorp, you make a bank transfer of your GBP and they exchange them to a currency you need, with a rate, much better than any high street bank ever cared to offer and then send this currency into your foreign currency bank account. Are there similar companies in Portugal, with Portuguese accounts to transfer to?

TransferWise , or Wise as it is now known does exactly that. All online via PC or their App. Can get a Visa Card as well which enables you to shop contactless in any currency debiting the money from the Wise account. Fees are excellent and exchange rate very good.If start point GBP you can either transfer direct to Portuguese account or simply transfer to Wise GBP account and shop, draw cash as and when you need it.

There are always threads about the best/cheapest way to transfer money. I'm not sure why the option that we use is seldom mentioned. We simply use the facility provided by our bank CGD. They charge no commission and give you a very favourable commercial rate, always better than you get elsewhere. Obvs you have to have a PT account with them. You transfer sterling funds to CGDs account with HSBC, then a couple of days later it's in your PT account as euros. The rate is based on the closing official rate the day before. So if you make a transfer today, you will get the rate that applied close of trading yesterday. So you have to be a bit more organised.
