Ali Express - Import duties and IVA
Hi,
has anyone bought anything from Ali Express and had it delivered to Portugal. If you did, was it held up in customs and were you charged duty, etc., similar to when stuff comes from UK?
Thanks in advance

Both my husband and I buy from Aliexpress frequently and have never had anything caught in Customs. I only spend under £15 but Husband has bought security cameras twice recently costing 50 Euros each. Maybe we are lucky so far and ours go to an Apartado/PO box.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen on the Ali Express web site that they are able to dispatch from within Europe so, hopefully, that will mean all will be straight forward.

Yes, that is true. Sometimes you have a choice of country. I have found postage is more from some. Other times they come drop ship through Portugal or Belgium (ie another label put over the top).

When you buy from AliExpress you already pay Portuguese IVA, your goods will not get stopped at customs even if they cost more than 15€. I've bought dozens of things from there over the past couple of years and nothing has ever been stopped.
