Makes sense to file online and see what they want. I got Medicare Part A during Covid lockdown - they wanted passport etc but settled for emailed versions at the time being as no office was open. ...

Later this year I'll be applying for SS. Is it best to apply for online or in person? Evidently they'll want passport, UK birth certificate, green card etc all things I do not want to mail.

I can confirm the same experience as "exbrit' in this thread with calling +44 (0) 191 218 7777 listed on the UK website. Now fingers crossed.....

I have 34 years of 'substantial earnings' per the SS website table so don't believe I will be WEP'd but thought US SS wanted to know about the British state pension at the time of applying for US SS?...

Today I called HMRC and got some answers - yes I qualify for Class 2, can pay for current tax year by direct debit and can pay the other shortfall year by electronic cheque or can mail in a cheque....
