Thanks in advance

I read you can start the claim 3 months before you reach retirement age. I start mine in September. I am curious to see how it goes.

Make a claim
You must be within 4 months of your State Pension age to claim. To claim your pension, you can either:
- contact the International Pension Centre
- send the international claim form to the International Pension Centre (the address is on the form)

Hello I had to phone about my application that I sent in march and they told me it was disregarded as I sent it too early as my birthday when I turn 66 is September no one let me know and I spent 100 dollars on all the paper work and registered mail. I asked what do I do know as it’s only 2 weeks till my birthday. The gentleman told me that they woul revalate it and it would take 3 to 4 months as there is a back log.ihave no faith in them proceeding with this so what should I do .

We can accept your claim if it is received no earlier than 4
months before the date you wish to get State Pension, or
the date you reach State Pension age whichever is the later

There's always a backlog for these things which means the clearance rate is slower than the receiving rate - often hampered by people not following the guidance.
Anyone want to volunteer paying extra tax to have government departments staffed adequately?

I phoned in March and did the application on the phone. Much better as going through question by question if there was one I couldn’t answer the agent said we will try to ignore and see if it will let me continue, example some work history, payroll number. Each time it did and no request for birth marriage certificates etc.
I had no confidence in receiving pension on time, birthday was in June and received a partial payment to my Canadian bank account on June 21st.
I would recommend a phone call rather than paper application.

You can download a paper copy of the application and look at the information you will need from here -

Basically the guy on the phone went through some of the questions on there including where I wanted my pension payment to go to, bank name, sort code account name and number. He didn't ask as many questions as there were on the paper copy and some I couldn't answer he said were not essential. I basically went through the questions on the paper application before I called so had most of the info together.
If you search the forums for UK Pension application there are several threads about this topic. Good luck!

Amazingly my first payment arrived in my US bank account only a few weeks after I applied. I was past my pension age by a year or so at that point.
