I recently got my first UK State Pension payment. I'd asked for the pension to begin Feb 1st. Being as the confirmation letter indicated they pay one month in arrears I expected the first payment to show up in the US bank in March. Feb 13th a partial payment has showed up for an odd amount. It seems to be for 12-13 days. Any insight to this partial payment and whether there are currency exchange fees involved would be appreciated.
Thanks

You asked for the pension to start 1st Feb, your first payment date after that date was 13th Feb, so 12 days in arrears. The actual first payment date is calculated using your National Insurance Number. Pension is paid four weekly (13 times a year) so next payment should be 13th March and then every four weeks there after. I assume you didn't pick the quarterly option.
The exchange rate is what is applicable on the day, but is better than the bank retail rate would be, very close to the mid-rate in fact.

Thanks for the explanation. The pension confirmation letter from UK Pensions didn't include a date or amount of the first payment. I'd found that my national insurance number meant payment on a Thursday but nowhere could I find out which given week of the month it would be paid. Fingers crossed it will be full amount next month. Thanks again!
