Re: Know anything about pools?

Thanks. Florida has introduced laws for new pools, which require the actual pool to be fenced in from the house itself, but apparently the yard fencing we have is deemed to be adequate for an...

Re: Know anything about pools?

Hi,
thanks for the replies. My immediate concern is safety if the pool is full of water. I know what the regs are if we decide to bulldoze it and fill it in. We have to follow a procedure (drill...

Know anything about pools?

Hi,
We bought a foreclosure in Florida a while back. We were unable to get insurance until it had been out of foreclosure for a year. ( Don't ask me why, no one could explain!) Anyway, we have been...

Re: Buying a forclosure house

I'm fascinated about making offers of a few hundred dollars! I bought a foreclosure, as a holiday home, in Florida at the end of last year. It was advertised for $40000 and was bank owned. I got it...

Re: Holiday home in Florida, Help please!!

Thought we were talking investment, not holidays? As with any investment, you research, assess the risk, undertake due diligence and decide whether the returns outweigh the risk. For me the...

Re: Holiday home in Florida, Help please!!

Hi. I completed on a house in Florida last December. I had thought about it for years but only got round to it in my 60s! I didn't want the Disney circus so I have bought in a small town on the...

Re: Costing of moving 3 cats from London to Florida

The OP isn't obsessive, just a caring person. Many of us have close bonds with our animals. The only reason I have waited until now (in my 60s) to buy a place in Florida and spend a few months here...

Re: semi move to US

Surely cover of $200000 wouldn't pay for much medical treatment in the US? My medical cover on my annual worldwide insurance is several million pounds and the cost of travel insurance rises...

Re: Home insurance in Florida

Ok, I will contact Tower Hill insurance too. Thanks. The cost of grass cutting seems to have stimulated some debate! I have checked with our friend and he says $60 PM is about standard around here.

Re: semi move to US

I guess my own plans could also be called a 'semi move' to the US so this is an interesting thread. Travel/medical insurance for longer than 31 days is possible but of course comes at a price. My...
