We are thinking of moving to Singapore but have 3 children under the age of 1 year.

We would need a full time nanny / maid (to help with children and house work). Could someone pls guide...

thats a fair point - but I am sure there are examples in the US and Europe of buildings becoming derelict and poorly maintained after standing empty for a number of years......climate or no climate....

Frans, these big investors as you call them are predominantly GCC nationals. I think they know the climate better than us! They are used to investing in real estate in Saudi, Qatar, Bahrain etc so...

have a look at the prices of real estate in the south east of england and you will see what you can buy for GBP200k - not much!

fair point, but specualtion and bubbles are the same where ever they occur, hence when investing be careful and do your homework.

I must admit I have never come across anyone as pessimistic on this board re Dubai as you - especially regarding Dubai real estate.

i must say, regarding the fairmont, for a hotel that doesn't look like anything outstanding from the outside, it certainly has that "something" once you are inside...not sure what though

If the brits implement this it will be followed by an EU wide policy. therefore it does not matter if you are greek or german.
