Re: Relocating to UK

Looks like either NZ Vanlines or Transworld as movers, the latter a tadge more expensive. Any reviews 🤔

Relocating to UK finances

My UK pension is paid to NZ so I can have NZ Super. Anyone with experience of plugging back into the UK system?

Tax residency - is that just letters/forms to each country?

Re: Relocating to UK

Yes looking at $15k for the dogs 😢 given our airfares are a fraction of that someone is minting it. Assume you were happy with the pet mover?

Relocating to UK

Sadly the family is dragging us back to UK. Nearly three years without seeing kids/grandkids and no end in sight.

Any one else done it recently and can recommend NZ movers (and likely cost of a...

Re: Where to live for lovely low cost living

Forget Kerikeri (or anything between that and Auckland) which is now a boom area. How about Golden Bay (west of Nelson) - great climate and community and I suspect prices reflect its semi -...

Re: Planning Permission

I think the legal process in NZ is just as tortuous and expensive as UK given resource consents/planning permission etc. However the grey side seems to be flourishing, in that lots of people seem to...

Re: Moving house sale funds

'you will not be taxed in NZ on overseas interest income for first four years' Not correct unless poster is tax exempt which in this case it appears he is not.

Re: Considering a move to lifestyle block

Also think very carefully about what you intend to do as a lifestyle block. Think quality of land and water supply/rainfall as it is difficult to change and is it fenced (expensive). We had 24 acres...

NZ Dream

Just joined the NZ tribe by buying a 3/4 acre 'buy to let' property in Kerikeri as an addition to our pension pot. Was it Barnsleymat who said it wasn't possible to do that (and buy cucumbers).

Re: Shipping a dog......

Why don't you approach Golden Arrow or other shippers for a quote. They can do everything or you can get the blood tests/vaccinations done yourself. 10 days quarantine in NZ is quite expensive. A...

Re: Military pensions scheme 1975 and Armed forces compensation scheme NZ tax

I wrote to IRD several years ago declaring my (UK tax free) MOD Hearing Disability pension and I got a two line response confirming it was tax free in NZ.

Re: Bring Caravan from UK

Certainly worth it - I imported a Lunar Clubman last year and it is worth $10-12k more here (net of costs). Keep it for two years and use for a full NZ tour over that period then sell. You will need...

Re: Show us your NZ garden pics please.

If you are feeling flush get a Walkers zero turn, mine cut my mowing time by 50%. But probably overkill for your little patch without obstacles :-).
