Yes, my son does have a UK passport. The program he is attending still classify him as an international student as his permanent address is in the USA (therefore higher fees can be charged!)

Thanks! Does a couple of weeks prior to leaving qualify as immediately? All of this happened in 1991 and I don't have exact dates! I'm sure I took a couple of weeks off to pack up my UK existence...

I am a UK/US dual citizen. I was checking my UK National Insurance record and have the ability to go back for several years and pay voluntary contributions (I can go back to the 2006/2007 tax year)....

Thanks, I found the KPMG chart too, and it suggests to me that property and other ties to the UK don't get taken into consideration unless you do not meet any of the tests at the top 3rd of the chart.
