Re: Verizon plan - ID requirements

Thanks for the advice. I think for now I will play it safe and go with the big providers, until I'm confident about what I'm doing. My experience (in australia) with the cheaper providers is that...

Re: Verizon plan - ID requirements

Thanks for all the advice. K so at least I know that pay as you go services are possible....

For data, think I would prefer to organise something myself, since WIFI can be unreliable (might not be...

Verizon plan - ID requirements

I'd like to get a mobile plan with a US company while I'm over there on a B1/B2 visa. I've heard Verizon (as one example) has ID requirements for security reasons. Do I need an SSN and proper US...

Re: Convert B1/B2 1 year visa to 5 years

Ok, I have read, and then re-read, Marocco's post. I think I finally get it now.

Gah, I am not normally this thick-headed! Thx & apologies :)

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Funnily enough, last time I was at the consulate the guy in front of me forget (or didn't know) to bring the receipt. He was turned away on the spot and had to re-book in a few week's time. He was...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

You can just take a printout of the payment confirmation that you would have received as email.

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Thanks jxv73, very detailed information there that's for sure.

Will have to have a bit more of a think about all of this.

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

K so if I applied for a COS to B1/B2, then I would have some time even though I'd be officially "out of status", before I either got a response about whether the COS was successful, or IJ make a...

Could you elaborate on this?

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

If it came up in future interviews, it's impossible for them to know that my intention was to look for a job (unless I'm mistaken, mind-reading technology has not been invented yet).

Re: Convert B1/B2 1 year visa to 5 years

Thanks. I do understand (this was made clear to me fairly early on).

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Why not? Using a tourist VWP to look for a job.... I would consider this to belong purely within the "white lie" territory. It's not like I'm trying to blow up the WTC here.

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Because the last thing I could possibly want is to have days out of status on my record

I can't see any requirements on here that I wouldn't be able to fulfull with a tourist trip to...

Re: Convert B1/B2 1 year visa to 5 years

Understood. However I could still be overseas while the 1 year visa expires (annoying).

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

OK I've done some further reading. From what I understand, I can apply for a COS, and can remain in the US until it's been processed, but in the event that it gets denied, I would have those days...

Re: Convert B1/B2 1 year visa to 5 years

For one thing it would mean that I wouldn't have to worry about the current one expiring while I'm in the US.

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Ok but is it really that easy to do a COS after being fired? A B1/B2 visa is not supposed to be issued to someone who is looking for work in the US, it's more targeted towards temporary...

Convert B1/B2 1 year visa to 5 years

Hello,

I recently received a 1 year B1/B2 visa (as in, a few days ago).

I'm considering getting it extended to 5 years. While I was at the US Consulate (Sydney) one of the girls there asked me...

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Why would I be denied entry at this point? If I have a clear criminal record and have no suspicious belongings on me or anything like that, I don't see why they wouldn't want to let me in especially...

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Note: I should clarify that I mean getting a B1/B2 before actually getting the E3, not after (I've modified my original post to show this).

Re: Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Thanks a lot for the advice.

Any reason to not do it in advance? Is it even possible to hold simultaneous visa's like this?

Cheers.

Using a B1/B2 visa as a backup while on E3

Hi,

I am an Australian citizen, planning on working in the US for a few years whilst on an E3. The scary thing about working on an E3 is that if you get fired, you have only 10 days to find...
