Re: US. to U.K.

I just received UK Entry Clearance as an American citizen married to a Brit. You say you got your K-1 but you didn't say whether you got married there in Texas or not? We live near DC so...

Re: I want to share a somewhat humorous story :)

So Jeffrey, you're telling me that this woman is in Romania trying to help Romanias and she doesn't understand the language? I hope she has a lot of interpreters with her!

As for cold weather...

Re: UK forms

Do you think that a letter from her mother signed, dated, etc. would be enough to show where we'll be living or would we actually need to get a copy of the deed to her house? I guess we'll find out...

Re: Gay couple find the Lesbian couple for immigration.(MOC)

Are these laws and regulations to be followed as is regardless of what they say or are they to be fought and changed? A marriage of convenience may be an easy way out (if you can pull it off) but...

Re: OT: INS proposes 30 day cap on tourist visas

Uh, don't most VWP countries already allow US citizens to visit for up to 6 months? I'm pretty sure the UK does. How long has the US allowed VWP visitors to stay in the US? 3 months. Why would...

Re: Dual citizenship...pros-cons?

You forgot one important Con, once you obtain US Citizenship you don't get to deal with the nice, friendly INS employees, filling out their wonderful forms and yelling at them for being incompetent...

Re: Marriage in US prior to DCF?

Carl, the 30/60 rule doesn't seem to apply for DCF. This has more to do with getting married on the spur of the moment (instead of decided before arriving in the US) and then apply for AOS. You can...

Re: Marriage in US prior to DCF?

I understand that you need to obtain residency from the British gov't before filing DCF. How did you live in the UK for 4 years without obtaining the equivalent of permanent residency. Were you a...

Re: Marriage in US prior to DCF?

I guess you are right Price, that 6 month figure could have been made up. The INS in London webpage simply says that the American must show proof that they are resident in the UK, which I guess is...

Re: Marriage in US prior to DCF?

I'm not absolutely sure about that JB, but that seems to be the common knowledge about UK DCF. I think someone found out that it was 6 months residency. Were you and your wife resident for at least...

Re: INS Arlington Interview Date

Congrats Andy! Finally getting that interview from Arlington, eh?
I think we brought a bank statement or two (not an actual letter from the bank manager, just something showing we had mullah),...

Re: Marriage in US prior to DCF?

I agree with Michael that you shouldn't state your intentions too loudly to the POE officials because they could construe your marriage in the US as an opportunity to stay but the wedding is not...

Re: What happens to my green card if I get relocated back to Canada?

I think I read in the Naturalization PDF on the INS website that if you are working abroad for a US employer for the purpose of foreign trade and commerce for the U.S. Section 319(b)(1)(B) allows...

Re: What happens to my green card if I get relocated back to Canada?

A greencard means that you have permanent residency so even though you've got the card, you've removed the conditions, you are still just a permanent resident (not a citizen). Moving to Toronto for...

Re: Returning to England

Thanks for the correction, Rete. I didn't look closely enough to see his AOS is still pending. He doesn't say how long he has been waiting or what his local INS office is so it's difficult to...
