Ok thanks. I didn't realise I would have to forfeit my UK licence. It makes no sense in this day and age.

I don't see why it's an issue to get a driving licence if you're doing a short landing? Seems as though people moving from other countries can so why not from the UK? The reason for getting a driving...

Well it would only be about 6months until I actually settle in Canada, so my thinking is to try and organise and sort out as many things that I can during this short trip

Yea I submitted my app in August 2014 so almost 2 years.

I only got my email because I chased up on the status - otherwise I I might still be waiting for the next stage.
