Has anyone sent their passport to a relative and done the inland passport renewal?

I know it says you're not allowed but I was just wondering if anyone has taken the chance. It is half the price...

I am a PR but I haven't been resident long enough to qualify for NEXUS. The residency requirement is 3 years.

I also assumed a B1/2 visa would allow me to enter without being sent to secondary...

And if the car line is long then you know the line up in side is going to be bad as well. Generally speaking I've found however long the wait in the car you have to wait the same amount of time...

I dont mind that wait as much, at least there's radio and I can use my phone. Once your inside though, it's a cross between a dentist's office and Guantanamo.

Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it. I was looking into NEXUS the other day but I don't yet meet the 3-year residency requirement to qualify.

So even with a B-2 I would have to go...

Hi,

Quick question, I'm a british citizen living in Canada. I have a job, a car and rent condo. I have no social ties to the US and have no desire to live there but quite enjoy the cheaper...

You can't set up one of those My Account things but when you go to submit the .tax file there is a checkbox for first time filers and they ask for a bunch of information. Once you get the assessment...

But it does not say anything about filing for the first time. As the OP arrived in 2011 they can file their first return online.

I on the other hand cannot as I arrived in April.

I just got off the phone with a surprisingly helpful CRA agent and apparently this is the first year that first time filers can file online.

So I recommend you do that and get your refund in 10...

I'm on TekSavvy for internet and Koodo for mobile. I don't have cable TV as I get my shows and sports through other means.

Don't know if we had to but we did. Just a short letter from her boss saying how long she had been there and how much she makes kind of thing.

I have no idea why mine was so quick. I consider myself to be extremely lucky. A colleague of mine applied a month before me and she still hasn't gone to "in process". (She hates me now btw)

I sent it back the day I got it which was Oct 14th, and got a decision beginning of November, so about 20 days. then it takes a bit for the COPR to arrive. I think you're looking at a month easy.

They requested the same form from me but only wanted details for a specific timeframe. It was my gap year travels they wanted to know about.

I filled it in using Acrobat and then send it back...

The LOI is emailed to you so if you get approved while you are here,you just have to head down to the closest border and flagpole rather than flying home. You could save yourself a return flight....
