Stanley isn't allowed to have a knife. His thumbs are too tiny.

Re: Home and garden projects

I see a Cardboard Box and some Duct Tape in your future.

That or a piece of rigid foam insulation and a knife.

Re: Home and garden projects

Ply gives it structure, but you could just open the window the minimum amount to allow the vent pipe out and tape up the gap. It isn't going to be that wide. 5 inches or so? a few layers of...

Also, Duct Tape is a thing if it doesn't need to look pretty.

Re: Home and garden projects

The "standard" approach seems to be taking a piece of plexi that has hole(s) in it for the vents, then fixing it to the inside of the frame. Once the window is swung (or cranked) open you are left...

Re: Let's talk about cars

About the same as being hit by a Skip. Similar appearance to one so I guess that's reasonable.

Re: BBC online now charging US located persons?

Im happy to pay for Britbox (and do) and I would also pay for a license in return for iplayer if I could. I can’t, so that money goes on the VPN.

BBC.com is vastly overpriced at their suggested...

Re: BBC online now charging US located persons?

Strange. I’m using a “private” tab right this minute. (Win 11 / Edge). No VPN installed on this box.

The living room PC has its location set to the UK (DNS). That has no problems either. I...

Re: BBC online now charging US located persons?

VPN and DNS options work fine, as does just using "incognito" or "Private" tabs. For now, at least.

I'd pay for a "TV License" in a heartbeat to gain (legal) access to iPlayer. I'm not willing to go the same route to fund a website that only contains content I can get for free in a thousand other...

Re: BBC

Edge works in a “Private” tab, at least for now. If that should change then a DNS service or VPN will be the way to go. Both considerably cheaper (and more useful) than handing cash to the BBC.

Re: Travel to UK, dual passport holder. What about the ETA?

Could well be. In which case the airlines will either have to adapt their system to allow a second Passport to be added (likely), or scrap on-line check-in (unlikely).

Re: Travel to UK, dual passport holder. What about the ETA?

I honestly cant remember what the app asked at the time I used it. It was pretty early on and may have changed. Or I may have just blown through it any way that worked at the time. ;)

I do know...

Re: Travel to UK, dual passport holder. What about the ETA?

*shrug*. Dunno. It most likely wouldn’t be, but all my flight bookings are done on the US PP and I check in on line. Until I start waving it around at the gate I’m not sure how they would know I...

Re: Travel to UK, dual passport holder. What about the ETA?

I do the same. If that 10 quid saves me a potential argument with a jobsworth at a boarding gate it will be well worth it. If not well, it’s the price of an airport Twix.
