AJ Bell will only take out tax dependent on what tax code HMRC assigns when you request a withdrawal. Likely it would be emergency tax code 1250 L M1.

I personally do not have any experience. There was someone who did in fact report that they submitted amended tax returns claiming tax free lump sum. Back in late 2020 I believe on this site.
