I did have to go in person to apply. All fine, although DHS had my middle name down as part of my first name so I have to get all that changed with USCIS and then SS. It's never over is it?!

Well I write as a permanent resident in Indiana!

Going through Dublin was a great way to go. The new airport is fantastic and I was the only person in secondary when I handed in the envelope etc....

14th Jan 2012 - London Embassy Received i-130
19th Jan - i-130 officially filed
20th Jan - Payment taken for i-130
29th Jan - Police cert. app....

Visa arrived this morning! We paid for a before 10 delivery not expecting a loud buzz at the door at 6.30am! Oh well, small price to pay.

The envelope was quite large (around A3!) so will have to...

And for reference, you can't pay for your passport to be returned on a sooner date, only sooner on whatever day they decided to get it to you. The cheapest option was before 6pm (£14ish). I paid...

Visa approved!!!!

In the end it was all quite straight forward. Went through all the steps those previous have recorded.

That's right. I'm planning to just hand over the joint sponsor items unless instructed otherwise. Seems simpler and more relevant to our situation.

Actually one thing I left off was a letter-headed letter from my FIL attesting to his relationship to my wife. I'm hoping this, along with a utility bill showing the same address as my wife's bank...

Interview is at 8am tomorrow. I will be taking (* means I think the document is not needed but I am taking it anyway just in case), plus one copy of everything:

We're also a relocating a family of 4 and found flights prohibitive. The only way we found anything we wouldn't have to remortgage for was flying aer lingus through Dublin. This saved us around £600...

Congrats on the visa!

I take it your MIL was the joint sponsor? Do we need citizenship proofs for spouses of joint sponsors? I know sponsors need marriage certificates where applicable.
