Re: Rental prices in Honkers

Thanks all for the advice. Some great stuff there.

This is interesting. The prices seem VERY reasonable. How on earth can a serviced apartment cost less than, or the same as, a normal...

Re: Rental prices in Honkers

Hi Reg,

I don't really mind living...

Re: Rental prices in Honkers

Hi guys,

Many thanks indeed for the advise so far - apologies, also, for not popping back before now. Didn't mean to get advice and dash.

Anyway, job offer arrived this morning.

It's...

Re: Rental prices in Honkers

Thanks for the info. I guess one has to weigh up convenience, cost of transport to/from work and location for more than just getting to the office - it's no good being in some cut-off corner of the...

Rental prices in Honkers

Hi guys,

I'm hopefully on the verge of a job offer in Hong Kong and will look at moving out there in a few months. Nothing's certain at this point, but fingers are crossed.

I ideally want...

Re: Visa Processing Companies

Thanks again, Ellen. Great advice.

You're probably absolutely right. Why waste good beer money when I could do the work myself?!

Re: Visa Processing Companies

Thanks very much for the info.

To be honest, I'm quite keen to use one. Lagely because I don't think I have the self discipline to sit down and do the forms properly. It's my only fault.... ;)...

Re: Any comments on the shite forex?

How much interest are you paying on your mortgage at the moment?

Think of any payment to your mortgage as, effectively, being an investment earning that interest rate. So 5.0% for example.

Re: Any comments on the shite forex?

I've been considering doing a bit of research to see if there's a currency that's particularly weak against the GBP but strong against the NZD and seeing if, when doing a large exchange, it might...

Re: Visa Possibilities

Thanks for this. Appreciate it. Can you point me in the direction of that list of temp. sponsorship jobs please?

If I can get in there for a year or two, I'll work on everything else while...

Re: Any comments on the shite forex?

You're telling me. I'm planning on selling a couple of flats at the moment in order to convert the profits to NZD but I'm not gonna rush. Property market's not too bad where I am, but that exchange...

Re: Visa Possibilities

Thanks very much, Dorothy.

I've had a look over that page previously, but I must admit to being confused by the term "sponsor" in this context.

Does that effectively mean that any employer...

Visa Possibilities

Dear all,

Forgive me for effectively copying and pasting my New Zealand thread here, but the question is, I suppose, largely the same.

Back in 2001/2002 I spent a year in New Zealand and,...

Re: Flatshare in Central Auckland - how much should I pay?

Hi there!

I spent a year in AKL ten years ago. Great place - you've made a good choice.

I rented a place by myself. One bedroom, open-plan kitchen and living room. I seem to remember the...

Re: Im 20..... were on the north island should i move to?

That'll be a nice sum of money, then. God knows they're not going to kick you out if you fall short. They might be angry, and resentful, but we can all get over that!

The more you can go with...

Re: Should I go??

Hi Rob,

Why do you say there's no chance of you earning $55k a year?

It's not that much money, is it?

Visa Processing Companies

Hi all,

Has anyone used these companies that say they'll help you get your visa?

I've been looking at a few in London and they all seem to offer fairly similar services, with one or two...

Re: How many of you have 'visitors'???

To put a slightly different spin on the question, if I may, without intentionally throwing things off track, why do people think they don't get as many visitors as they might like?

1) Cost?

Re: Im 20..... were on the north island should i move to?

Really depends what you need that money to cover.

Rent? For how long?

Food and drink? For how long?

A car? For how long?

Not sure I noticed on the thread whether you have a job...
