Last month we had a letter to tell us they were now going to apply charges to that account. So...

Re: Spain's insolvent - get your money out!

I closed an account I started with Bancaja a couple of years ago last week, I only used it because of the low fees for the type of account we had. As you know it morphed into Bankia and they're...

Re: Declaring worldwide assets to Hacienda

A simplistic question.

If you are lucky enough to have more that E50K in a single account, can you simply transfer half the money to another new account thus bringing the amount below the...

Re: Ex-pats and money in Cyprus banks

The Cypriot Parliament voted it down so no levy, for the time being anyway.

Too late, too late. The damage has been done. Who is going to leave their hard earned (taxed already) money lying in a...

Re: Indicator lights & ITV - techie question.

The problem is almost certainly a bad connection, quite possibly in the fuse box or to an earth connection to the bodywork. Try running a feed from the negative side of your battery to the bulb...

Re: La Caixa Bank

Sabadel/Solbank have an account called 'Expansion account'. If you have at least one pension paid into it you can get a 7% discount on all your direct debits. No charges to it that I can see.

Re: Anyone here from or around Xativa, Valencia?

If the children are young they will probably pick up Valenciano and Castellano quite quickly anyway, they'll be translating for you in no time. The schools do expect them to speak the language, they...

Re: A Universal Plug Socket - At Last ?

We have three different adaptors in with our 'Forrin 'otel tea making kit' and we were still defeated by the ingenious plug at the last place we over-nighted in Bordeaux, there's nothing worse for us...

Re: Anyone here from or around Xativa, Valencia?

We are only 10 minutes from Xativa as well, the area is much greener than the Alicante end of the Province, you will have the usual sort of meeting places to find friends etc. Many good little bars...

Re: Driving licence catch 22

No, I did not have a Spanish licence in 2003, that is just what DVLA said. When my licence was nicked I reported it as usual and had it replaced with a Brit licence.

You must remember that I have...

There is a British School in Alzira and another one in Xativa, both towns are about 25 minutes from Valencia by train. Oh! and the water is fine in Alberic.

Re: Driving licence catch 22

While I was at Trafico yesterday I asked how long the certificate would last if I re-applied, the best the lad could come up with was 'probably a few months but not a year'. It's nice he could be so...

I may re-apply in a few months time...

Re: Driving licence catch 22

That was the verification they asked for.

I hope I don't have to employ a lawyer for this, I intend to tell the DVLA that I'm going to be in UK permanently, then change my mind when I'm ready....
