Re: PS3

I had an original model PS3, and while I never tried it here I remember it saying 240V on the back - I don't think the original ones will run on Canadian 120V unless you use a voltage converter or...

Re: UK driving licence, to renew or not to renew

It's not eligible if expired (in Ontario at least, i'd imagine the same in Alberta), and then it's a royal pain in the balls to renew a UK licence while living in Canada (been there). I would renew...

Re: Forwarding mail within Canada

Thanks Auld Yin.

Not sure about legal obligations - I think in the UK you actually might be on dodgy ground just binning stuff as technically you don't have the right to interfere with HM's mail....

Forwarding mail within Canada

A dumb question I should already know the answer too, having been here for a while.
If I get the occasional bit of post for a previous occupant of my house, can I just put it back in the mailbox...

Re: Told my PS3 will NOT work in Canada!

Ah yes thanks Alan, I meant 50fps. The frozen planet one is 50fps, not sure why.

So can the US PS3s play 24fps without that 2:1 pulldown thing? My old UK TV had to do this as it couldn't do...

Re: Told my PS3 will NOT work in Canada!

It doesn't seem to be just this - I have the BBC frozen planet blurays which are region free but do not play as they in 30fps and the US PS3 cannot play blurays at this frame rate.

Re: Told my PS3 will NOT work in Canada!

Well, that's annoying, because now I have 2 PS3s. Oh well, at least i'll be able to bring my old one over and play tourist trophy on it..

Re: Told my PS3 will NOT work in Canada!

Really? My mistake, thought they did. My UK wii works on a NA TV through component though - wouldn't the TV have to receive a PAL signal for that to work?

And just remembered my launch UK PS3...

Re: Told my PS3 will NOT work in Canada!

Only thing to bear in mind is, that north american blurays will very likely not work - they are encoded at 25fps here rather than 30, and the ps3 can't handle this change.
NTSC vs PAL will be fine...

Re: My Air Transat Experience

I used them for the first time a few weeks ago - the checked baggage allowance is fine, but the carry is only 5kg! I could put barely anything in my carry on.
for this reason alone I would only...

Re: Ontario temp driving licence accepted in UK?

Thanks siouxie. Just checked with the rental company green motion, and they say I should be ok as long as I bring a passport. Here's hoping the guy on the day says the same! No longer have any old...

Ontario temp driving licence accepted in UK?

Hi Guys,

Due to rather poor forward planning, I decided to swap my UK driving licence for an Ontario one right before going on a holiday back to the UK. I did the swap last week, and leave for...

Re: Swapping UK licence for Ontario - how long does it take?

Has anyone tried exchanging an expired UK licence? Sounds a stupid question, but teh photo on mine has just expired, the license itself is in date. Is a major pain to apply for a new UK license...

Re: Aneasthetic Technician/ ODP in Canada ?

No idea about your question Nick, but good luck in getting over here - we need ODPs! The job is quite different in Canada, operating room nurses tend to assist the anaesthetist and are not a patch...
