Hi there
I went in future shop today with my friend and I asked the guy at the counter if my UK PS3 will work in Canada. He told me that there is NO WAY that will work over here on a Canadian TV because the UK PS3s are PAL and Canada's are NTSC (or something). It basically will not be too read the signal...

Also any games brought in Canada will not work my UK PS3 either!
I had a look at wiki page and it says that it will work..
Before I sell it along with all my games will it work over here with a Canadian TV....btw I have an HDMI cable.
Is he right?

You can even part ex UK games with North American ones. They don't seem to mind.
I use both a Canadian and UK account.

Yep games will play. They're all region free. Half of mine are UK. Your PSN account is still accessible and you can still buy stuff as long as you have a UK visa or whatever linked to it. The only problem is you can't buy upgrades or add-on's from a UK account with a North American game.

Will work fine.
Bought a Canadian PS3 at launch, took it to the UK for a few years and back here.
The same works for European PS3s, it will work anywhere in the world. Just get an adapter for the wall plug

Only thing to bear in mind is, that north american blurays will very likely not work - they are encoded at 25fps here rather than 30, and the ps3 can't handle this change.
NTSC vs PAL will be fine with any modern TV, but the bluray thing the PS3 can't handle in my experience - certainly my US PS3 won't play UK blurays for this reason.

Really? My mistake, thought they did. My UK wii works on a NA TV through component though - wouldn't the TV have to receive a PAL signal for that to work?
And just remembered my launch UK PS3 says 220-240V on the back, so it would need a transformer too, maybe the later ones wouldn't.

The PS3 label will show 220-240v as it was sold for the UK market. The power supply internally is likely able to handle 110-240v though (especially on the earlier PS3's) and the only way to really tell is to take the PS3 apart and check the label on the actual supply internally or just plug a 110v into the PS3.

Whether or not your UK PS3 will play your US Bluray movies depends on whether or not the movie is region free.
Canada is in Region A and the UK is in region B and this is the reason that many US bluray movies will not play in a UK PS3.
Whenever I buy a bluray movie I always check if it is region free. It usually depends on which studio produced it.
