Default PS3

I have read old threads and they say UK PS3 can work in Canada

I now live in Canada, I have tried someone else's power cable and it doesn't work.
How can I get it to work it the very first model, also does anyone know where I can buy these adaptors for it

Thanks
Lorraine

Is it that the Canadian power cable doesn't fit into the back of the console? We found that with a cable we bought over here, so we took it back and carried on using the PS3 with the UK power cable and a standard UK 3-pin to North American 2-pin plug adapter.

Yes it was a Canadian cable that didn't work, where did you get the adaptor from? Also is your PS3 the first version as the old ones use more power (watts) then the newer ones which is what I have got

Thanks

I had an original model PS3, and while I never tried it here I remember it saying 240V on the back - I don't think the original ones will run on Canadian 120V unless you use a voltage converter or whatever they're called.

You're right Jonb. Lozzal70 you would need a step down converter to use it here, the earliest model is the only one that isn't dual voltage. You can pick them up quite cheaply though both online and in shops. The plug adapters you can get at most electrical shops, somewhere like the Source would do them I think.
