This isn't necessarily what you will be charged. In our case, we were given back about 400 Euros about a year after the purchase. I think this is quite common.

Glyphosate (Sold under the name of Roundup) is probably your best bet.
It is a systemic weedkiller. Spray it on the leaves and it gets taken down into the roots and kills the plant.
