Right of Permanent residence fee paid - how much longer to go now?

I received an email today from the VISA office in Ottawa today asking me to pay my Right of Permanent Residence fee. :) It has taken just over 6 months to get to this stage applying through the PNP...

I was under the same impression, that the 6 month period was when you had to do the full application to CIC by. I thought provided you had the nomination and had done the application to CIC in time...
