I can only answer from my experience,my partners sister was named as the executor in her will,but she lived 400 miles away,so she asked me to do it as I was on hand,in my case two people had to be...

If all the paperwork is in order and the probate office except it ,about 6 months that was my case,depends how busy they are,credit card companies and loan companies tend to back off for the first 3...

You just need a letter from the original executors saying that they do not want to do it and name a new person that is prepared to do it,appointing solicitors can be very expensive there are...
