The writing style I prefer? Brave writers who tell it the way they see it and don't pull punches.

I hate Jeffrey Archer.
heh heh ... you dont think he measures up to the others you mentioned then?

Interesting, quite a list of talented writers there, though I might have included a few more Brits.
I totally agree with you about Archer.
He was absolute rubbish.

I never considered myself talented enough to even try, but I do write an excellent snotty letter when I'm in the mood.

I expect thats what it's all about,..being in the mood when the words just flow as easily as a stream downhill, though I've heard of cases of some decent writers coming up against a sort of mental block and being unable to put pen to paper for months on end.

Even though he lives in a penthouse on the Thames and receives regular visitors from the Tory grandees, he's not fit to lick the boots of the other writers I've mentioned. He can't write, he employs an army of swarmies to translate his hand written nonsense into something reasonably competent to pass on to the Tory Lord publisher and the army of publicists to sell his 'books'. Lord Weidenfeld,

I feel better after having written that down. I defy anyone to read anything by Hemingway and even attempt a comparison with Archer.

And, excuse my French, he got four years for being a lying bastard.

He may not write well but Stranger Than Fiction is brilliant and exists only because of him.

It isn't.....

I will miss Bil too, even though I'm in daily contact with him via email.

This forum will be a much less interesting place without him, love him or loath him the fact of the matter is he brought this forum to life, even if often in a controversial way.

So long Bil my friend, many of us will miss you here!

One thing we should all remember is that what is said on many forums can be read by potentially millions of people. What we see as 'fun' or jokes can be seen in a different light by others and reflect back on the forum. I was a mod on two forums for a little over four years in total and it takes up a lot of your free time, I gave up...too much hassle.

I've said before, will no doubt say again and various responses suggest a moderate number of folk agree: We should 'speak' in our posts as if the potential recipient(s) are there in front of us face to face. At least that would sort the actually unpleasant from those of us who should think a bit harder before choosing our wording. Won't happen, but I wish it would!

Since we are not really allowed to be discussing the whole subject of Mods decisions I fail to see the point of the thread so who cares if its hijacked?

We allowed this thread to continue to give members a chance to air their views on banning in general.

As it has now gone completely off topic there is no point in continuing it.

Thread is closed.
