Re: Leaving the USA with a Green Card

The part in bold there is interesting - my wife lived with me in the UK from 2008 until 2011 on a 'partner' visa. The original ran from 2008 to 2010, and then from 2010 until 2012 we renewed it (at...

Re: Temporary Internet providers

Thanks. We're in an apartment/condo complex at the moment, where the cable package is already installed/included. I will check the status of this with the management.

I had a 3G dongle 4 years...

Re: moving to USA via QM2

I would check with your vet about the certificate - just to be on the safe side. I can't think of anything else we brought with us, apart from a big supply of his heart medications. That has me...

Re: moving to USA via QM2

Certainly! I hope this helps:

So yes, we booked to leave from Southampton. Once we made the booking, Cunard provided us with a checklist and information on what to expect. One of these is a...

Re: moving to USA via QM2

We planned it ourselves by researching online. There are a few forums and blogs out there recounting others experiences.

The main recommendation I can give - plan early!

We sailed in December,...

Re: moving to USA via QM2

You're welcome. I know how challenging it was for my wife and I to negotiate our move so I hope that these little notes, plus any other advice we can offer, can help others in our position.

One...

Sure, here's the message below:

My wife, dog and I sailed on the QM2 to New York in December, primarily as our dog (who has now passed), had heart disease and wasn't certified to fly. We didn't...

Re: Settling down in the USA - work etc

I was looking intermittently late last summer once I knew we were moving and again through January and early February but I've really only being focusing on it fully for the last 6 weeks or so.

Re: Settling down in the USA - work etc

I'm still looking, but I'm only 6 weeks into being back in DC. I will say though that I'm very pessimistic in general and have already been thinking about going back to the UK

Re: Settling down in the USA - work etc

Thanks! I'll take a look at these companies. Do you have to pay for the service or do they recoup their fees from the companies who hire them?

I'm not even going ask about the Karo syrup

Thanks for...

Re: Capitol Hill work
