On the subject of renting you just drive around and look for the Affitisi signs they are everywhere.
We live in the middle of the mud slide area and it is annoying rather then a reason not to come....

With regads the MOT it is not an offence to drive in Italy with no UK MOT or road Tax only an offence in the UK. so the car has to stay in Italy.
It has to be registered somewhere so you need a UK...
