Re: allthewayfromuk's questions about a move to Houston

I'm a Basildon boy myself so maybe when I'm over at Katy Mills Mall next I'll have to pop over and say hello. Still undecided about moving here....

Re: Why the high cost of used vehicles?

People who know anything about BMWs will disagree with you strongly there, at least from UK experience. There's a reason why there is a whole micro-economy based around bootlegged copies of BMWs...

Re: allthewayfromuk's questions about a move to Houston

I'm currently (temp) living in Galleria area and I've been shocked at the level of traffic, although often this is caused by accidents rather than volume (according to the morning news anyway). I'm...

Re: Anyone left a 21yo back in the UK ?

Yes, but he has his own ambitions to join the Army and he needs to stand on his own eventually anyway.

Like I say, not everyone has the same situation, but for us we didn't even offer to take him...

Re: Anyone left a 21yo back in the UK ?

I've always thought the role of a parent is to make sure their kids, once they reach 18, are mentally and emotionally prepared for world outside the family home. Our son is approaching his 18th...

Re: Scotland to Orlando with 16 yo. Advice!

We are currently going through a very similar situation, albeit our daughter is a year younger.

We are working under the following guidelines:
1) Moving school mid-year is counter-productive...

Re: Starting negotiations with employer

Thanks again, we are currently having almost daily meetings where more and more questions come up and new knowledge is gained.

Re: Starting negotiations with employer

Thanks all, we are going to try all we can to get her on side, there's a visit to Houston planned for October so we will see how it goes.

The visa is an L1 for me and L2 for my wife.

Re: Starting negotiations with employer

I think this is what I need to understand now.

When it was a secondment it was easier in many ways, as I would effectively be on expenses for a year, now I am unsure what to ask for/think about...

Re: Starting negotiations with employer / schools

So, we had a long think about it, got to a point where we were almost ready to sign up...and then our daughter changed her mind and spent the last week crying and saying she doesn't want to go. ...

Re: Starting negotiations with employer

Thanks all for the advice, but the education debate is for another time. In principle, if I can't get a suitable financial and personal arrangement then everything else is irrelevant.

There is a...

Re: HELP - Do you have to get your company to give a reference?

Your HR/Personnel department should treat any request in confidence, so if you don't want certain people to know that shouldn't be a problem (I am assuming that your partner's workplace has an HR...

Re: SC175 APPLICATION-CURRENT vs NEW POINTS TEST???

1) There is no proposed Pool Mark under the new points test but the official announcement hasn't been made yet. I would however safely assume that there will no longer be a pool mark

2) You need...

Re: do ielts scores overlap ?

What a load of old nonsense. Sorry, but you can come up with all sorts of excuses (conspiracies) if you want, but the vast majority of people who can speak the language pass the test. It is...

Re: do ielts scores overlap ?

It is entirely possible that you scored 8 first time around and then got 6.5 second time. All of the tests are marked by two people, and the questions will change, so it is possible that you didnt...

Re: Skills assessment for Electrician

Hi,
There was an almost identical post on this a few weeks ago, and the advice given was that having a spouse assessment on the visa makes no difference to the priority of your application.

If...

Re: Auto Electrician HELP!!

Might be an obvious question but have you asked TRA?

I don't know them in particular, but for my skills assessment (which is due to be sent off soon) with Vetassess there is a process by which you...

Re: Where to Start From? 175 after 1st July 2011

Bank worker is a bit generic, that could cover anyone from the receptionist to the manager. You'll need to identify a more specific position.

There are some banking jobs on the SOL, if you find...

Re: ielts

There are 10 or so IELTS test centres in London, most of them run the tests on Saturdays only and you generally need to give 2-3 weeks notice.

Go on to the IELTS website (www.ielts.org) and do a...

Re: How long for Vetassess assessment results????

I read on the Vetassess website that you can request priority processing, not sure what that actually means but there were certina situations where they would honour it.

Why not email or call and...
