Re: Going Home

That's exactly what I'm arguing about and you can't seem to get it.

They ARE massively expensive. 5X more is massively expensive.

This is exactly the type of baffled advice you get on this...

Re: Just moved from the USA, struggling more than I expected

Re: Renting Pitfalls in Calgary

Uh-huh.

And exactly how many prospective tenants know that?

And exactly how many landlords are going to give a damn what prospective tenants in another country think?

I had to fork out six...

Re: Going Home

I said that the fares in Canada are really expensive.

You responded by posting an expensive fare as an example of "reasonable" and ALSO you have to drive to the USA to get it.

PS I don't have...

Re: Renting Pitfalls in Calgary

Nice one.

There are some (limited) benefits to a >snip< economy.

In other but related news:

IMO in general you never, ever, ever, ever (did I make my point enough) get bargains in Calgary.

Re: Going Home

AND it's STILL not what I would consider to be cheap. $300 is huge when it's multipled by four. 25 quid multiplied by four is only 100 quid for four people.

And that's NOT from a Canadian...

Re: Should I be paying Canadian tax on UK pay

It's none of the other guys business what you do with your money.

Re: Going Home

A cursory search gave me a flight price of $500.

Hardly ryanair or easyjet pricing.

For comparison. In january I'm flying from Glasgow to Sofia. GBP9.99 out and EUR14.99 return.

Re: Second hand furniture shops in Calgary?

The equivalent of Oxfam etc are much bigger - they usually have the same floorspace as a Tesco. As a result, most of them do have furniture.

Value Village

Re: Going back to Edmonton.

The lifestyle in Edmonton is identical to that of Calgary.
It just doesn't have chinooks and the people are a bit more blue collar.

PS you're lucky to get a job at all. Good for you!

Re: Using UK mobile phones in Canada
