Does he have a British driving licence ? Could he swap his NZ licence for a British licence ? Look into it, my husband did. Which is why he has never sat a British driving test.

We were quoted eye wateringly high premiums for car insurance upon our return from NZ in November 2016. That included a spotless no claims record from NZ.

UK Grocer sells British food. They are based in Auckland. Look them up and see what they have.

Also, check whether Marks and Spencer still does free delivery from Britain to NZ.
