Re: North Lakes - last minute jitters

thanks everyone for the replies. Plenty of opinions and advice to digest.

Again, we do fancy the idea of a more established suburb, it is just that we have found that the public transport appears...

We have been in Brisbane one week now researching areas. We are hoping to view some properties next week and sign up for something.......

We have almost settled on North Lakes. Initially...

Re: Early Days ... Three and a half weeks in Brisbane

Hi,

We will be moving to Brisbane in a few weeks from now - we are hoping to secure a rental fairly quickly. Your insights in to this above are interesting but could you give us a feel...

Foreign currency transfers

Hi,

I know that there are many threads on this but I think the subject matter means opinion can change over time depending on the prevailing economic conditions.

So was just wondering what the...

Re: CIMA MRA

thanks for your advice. Following your advice and the advice above I am myself now and proceeding with the MRA.

Assuming it goes smoothly and I have a positive response, what designatory letters...

Re: Hope Island / Sanctuary Cove

how long does the train take? Is it a good, frequent service and how much would you pay for a weekly / monthly ticket?

At the risk of asking the obvious, what is the issue with Coomera? Is it the...

Hope Island / Sanctuary Cove

Does anybody live in or near the above and commute to Brisbane CBD?

If so could you advise how long your commute is? Are there any decent public transport options?

Do you have any comments on...

Re: Laser Eye Surgery in Oz... Whaddyareckon?

Have to agree - watched a programme once where they said the long term effects won't be known until a few decades pass since the early pioneers. Inference was that some of the "layers" which get...

Re: Will the 2010 World Cup Unite anyone from the home Nations?

As a United fan - swap Gerrard and Lampard at Liverpool Chelsea a few years ago. Result, Liverpool even worse than they have been - Chelsea could well have won 5 PLs on the bounce and a maybe a...

Re: Favourite World Cup player of all time.

Fair enough - France evidently made the right choices for 1998. Prior to 96 my knowledge and memory of the French football squad is patchy - but I don't recall them setting the world on fire -...

Re: Will the 2010 World Cup Unite anyone from the home Nations?

Well, history showed you were right about dear old Guppy - perhaps unfairly as I think he did have something to offer, especially when you consider the rubbish which filled his boots in the following...

Re: Favourite World Cup player of all time.

I was just posting a reply but seem to have lost it.....

Anyway I was saying how I recall he was kept out of French team by Zidane. At the time I scoffed at this but history showed Zidane to be...

Re: Will the 2010 World Cup Unite anyone from the home Nations?

ha ha. I was being flippant and maybe Guppy is the not the best player to bring in to this argument but I do believe England (and English clubs in Europe) would do better to rely on our traditional...

Re: Favourite World Cup player of all time.

Tis true.

I am a huge fan of Eric. A brilliant talent but I think there was just something magical about him and Utd together which you cannot explain through normal football logic. Made for each...

Re: Favourite World Cup player of all time.

Yep. Again, good shout. The thread is not just about impact on matches but on the public perception and who we enjoyed. On that score Gazza is difficult to beat, certainly for England. Agreed.

Re: Favourite World Cup player of all time.

Fair play - good response.

I guess football and World Cups are all about personal memories and experiences. I don't have the same fond memories of Gazza in 90 as you but I can see and believe your...

Re: Favourite World Cup player of all time.

I dont get the Gazza 90 thing. He was a big character, a talented footballer and he cried when he got the 2nd booking.

I don't think he played against Ireland when we drew, played against Holland...

Re: Will the 2010 World Cup Unite anyone from the home Nations?

To be fair Scotland, like Wales and Ireland have produced some real crackers over the years. Just not enough at the same time to make a dent. The exception, and the window of opportunity for Scotland...

Re: Will the 2010 World Cup Unite anyone from the home Nations?

Im English but I am disappointed Scotland did not qualify. Watching their hapless escapades against some of the worst teams in the tournament used to help soothe the pain of another England...

Re: Favourite World Cup player of all time.

Not favourite but without a doubt the best in the WCs I have watched since 82 is Maradonna. Disastrous in 82 but 86 he was untouchable. In some ways his performances and influence in 90 was the...
