Just wondering about renting an apartment in Toronto, I understand that most landlords want you to have a good credit rating before they will allow you to rent a place from them. My...

Re: Eligibility for OHIP

With Canadian Affair/Air transat it's mandatory - wouldn't usually book through them but Air Canada and British Airways are over £700 for a one way flight which is absolutely ridiculous!

I'm...

Re: Eligibility for OHIP

Also, what about insurance for the flight? The airline I am flying with says it's mandatory to have travel insurance, but I would only need it for the flight, just for one day, what has everyone else...

Eligibility for OHIP

Hello!

I am planning to land in Canada on the 4th of November, I'm just wondering about health insurance. I previously lived in Toronto for a year on a BUNAC visa, so will I be eligible for OHIP...

WHOA! I got my passport back today! Less than a week after sending it, with visa inside! It came back so fast that I thought it had been rejected for some reason, can't believe how fast it was!!

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

What happens if your photos get rejected at this stage? Does it take longer to get your passport back with visa, or just longer to get your PR card in Canada?

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

I can't see why your sponsor would need to be with you, my sponsor is currently in Canada and I'm in England so she definitely won't be there for mine, I think a lot of people are in the same...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

The initial stage of mine took longer than yours but then only about a month in London, they're completely unrelated as they're looking at different things - the initial stage is just checking if the...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Just an observation, it seems that people that get their personal items returned by CIC after about a month of processing have to wait at least another month before hearing anything else (from what...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

I think it's very hard to try and guess why some take longer than others, I'm trying to be optimistic, they have sent our items back and not asked for anything further so they must be pretty happy...

Re: Applying for PR on a BUNAC -> implied status?

I'm pretty sure BUNAC is non-extendable, in which case, I don't think this is possible, but I'm not 100% sure.

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Thanks, had a couple of people have a read of it and they think the same as me, that it's just a generic letter that they use for sending back personal items and/or requesting further information,...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Hello!

Just got all of my 'personal items' returned from London - photos etc. Glad I knew that this happens sometimes before they have made their decision otherwise I would have been way over...

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

I had the same problem when trying to book my medical! Was on the phone to them for about half an hour trying to convince them that I needed it done, eventually did so after much frustration!

re: Timeline For Spousal Sponsorship via London & Inland

Hey Vince, we're on almost exactly the same timeline for London, the waiting is the worst! My partner went back to Canada a few weeks ago but I'm stuck here until I get my visa, at which point I will...

Re: Need Some Advice..

BUNAC is an open work visa, you don't need a job offer to apply for it, you can wait until you get over to Canada and then find a job if you like.

Re: Need Some Advice..

One idea would be when you're 18 get a year working visa through BUNAC, you could live with your partner for a year and then she could sponsor you as her common-law partner, that's what I'm doing!
