Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

No problem with me.

I don't tell downright lies by getting people in for an interview only to say the job has gone when you get there......"but why don't you sign up anyway now that you are here"....

Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

Gosh - you seem a bit sore about the whole thing. Settle petal.

I only realised that she was a nutter after our 3rd contact.

I have been trying to extract myself ever since but without trying...

Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

Since I have been to almost every agency in Sydney, that does not really say much

They are all bottom feeders or sharks.

Re: How did you commemorate your Citizenship?

What a great idea - thanks for the link.

My citzenship took place at 11.00am during the middle of the week too. And that afternoon we went to Balmoral Beach in Sydney and stayed to watch the...

Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

Of course they are a money making business.

And most of them will ride roughshod over their candidates to make that money.

Besides that, most of them don't have enough compassion or honestly to...

Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

I have only ever met one good recruiter. She was honest in her dealings, had decency and treated her candidates with respect.

The rest have been cold blooded slimy reptilians - think V!

Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

Old people’s homes, retirement villages and nursing homes ALWAYS seem to need staff.

I know AIN may be a bit beneath you at this stage of your career but it will bring in money and you may make...

Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

Yes, never ever admit to this.

When I was temping I signed up to about 10 different agencies but pretended to each one that I was only signed up to them.

I am a very honest person and this...

Re: How long before getting a job (IT)

Too true.

Recruitment Agents are in the same league as Used Car Salesmen and Real Estate Agents in my book.

They are OK for temping jobs, but I reckon half the full time jobs they advertise...

Re: How did you commemorate your Citizenship?

I didn’t experience blood, sweat, worry, hard work or upset, in the lead up –all very easy and straight foward, so felt no real need to celebrate.

Think me and hubby got fish & chips takeaway,...

Re: Pets and responsibilities

Oh well, a towel or two that Gordon eats is a nice clean food at least.

One of our cats vomited up her beef yesterday.

I went outside to clean it up and found our food obsessed kitten had...

I hardly dare comment least the Jun 9th 2010 be classed as an old thread!

Anyway I found Auckland to be a nice city to live in. I lived near The Domain and often use to walk down into...

Re: From Blenheim to Christchurch

Yes, I said it was different scenario.

But it is not very different, as fundamentally the basics are the same (i.e.) you need money.

I was suggesting hospitality because:

1) You can usually...

Re: 3+ years in and missing blighty

The last post on this subject was on 4th May, my reply was on 14th June – one month is hardly old surely!!!

And I was making a joke.

Re: hunter valley

I really like Dungog too. But I did not mention it, as it is little out of the way.

Cesspit has a terrible heroin problem and a terrible obesity problem and terrible crime due to the local jail...

Re: Why does everyone keep talking about football?

I was talking about footie tipping - not the game itself.

I know what happens in football - a lot of hairy grossly overpaid men run around a field kicking a ball. Sometimes if they are lucky they...

Re: 5 nights away before return to UK

These three places are meant to be fantastic:

http://www.ecobeach.com.au

http://www.elquestro.com.au/homestead

Certainly worth the blow out, or so I hear.

Re: From Blenheim to Christchurch

Slightly different scenario but when I was backpacking in NZ, I NEVER had a problem getting a job.

I worked in hospitality, which meant there was always some sort of job to be had, especially in...

Re: Lack of choice in 1980s style supermarkets

Yep, been there.

It has a good range, but I find Crows Nest is a pain-in-the-bum for parking.

The two guys that own it use to be managers at Macros Crows Nest, so they must have raided the...

Re: Lack of choice in 1980s style supermarkets

Didn't make me burp.

Just made me horny - after all, it is an aphrodisiac.

It is better to buy fresh Australian...
