Private Medical Insurance Retirees

Hi

My Mum is in Perth on a contributory parent visa. Am looking to get her private medical insurance.

Opening a bank account as a non resident

Hi

My Mum has been granted a Contributory Parent visa in July. She will not be coming over permamently until March next year

I don't plan on her applying for a Tax File NUmber until her arrival...

Am intrigued as to why it would be a bad idea to get her sorted out with a bank, drivers...

This thread seems to be rather quiet

Quick update on my Mum's position. Applied early Jan 2011, acknowledged late Jan.

VAc payment made late March 2012, visa granted early April 2012.

thanks for all your replies.

Ended up going to a 7 day clinic in the city. Consultation was $100, of which i get $46 back from Medicare

Prescription was $52, so all in all an expensive day.
