No, working conditions in BC aren't as bad as one may think. Sure they suck at times but they can suck anywhere. Attitude is key as is work ethic. I've seen much worse and have also seen better...

Its ironic that the US has more of it citizens incarcerated than any other developed country in the world.... Sounds to me like its not working there either, despite the reality of capital punishment...

Just replace "teachers" with Paramedics" and thats where were at.

Our union and management sabre wave, smile at the cameras, kiss babies etc while the front line staff slog on...

Ah the dollar store/made in China/"free" market right wing line of thought. There is very little "free" in free market. Lowest bids, cutting corners to make a buck don't sound effective in business...

We've lost many excellent Paramedics to RCMP, various municipal police and fire departments aready. I heard 108 Paramedics in Vancouver passed the police physical a few weeks ago!

All Goverment agencies are union in B.C. and I am grateful because you haven't seen a deeper level of incompetance until you see a B.C. government manager IMO. However, our union isn't far behind....

ACP jobs are available in B.C., however during the recent labour action all hiring was frozen.

BC Ambulance Service is a gov't run entity and the sole provider of EMS in B.C. Because its seniority...

I am a 20 yr veteran of BCAS.

Im also in limbo after completing all the clinical portion of the advanced life support program at the Justice Institute of B.C.

Almost 3 yrs of hard work, leaving...

Yes, there was a 7 month strike in BC they were legislated back to work and the morale is very poor at present. In fact, there a bunch of us now looking at heading to AUZ for a lifestyle and work...
