Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

So sorry to hear this too. I know someone who just walked in to the Faro office, albeit 14 months ago before Covid, and had it processed there and then, and walked out with a new plastic licence in...

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

If it's of any interest, I'm now the proud owner of a Portuguese licence. Started the process 23rd Oct 2020 by emailing relevant application documents, paid my €30 on 24th November 2020, got date...

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

This hasn't happened to me and mine's through the Braganza branch.
A day after paying my €30 I got acknowledgement by email. That was 26 November. They haven't sent me anything in the way of...

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

Update on Cert of Autheticity: just phoned DVLA again. They have been superb and said they'll post my certificate to me today.

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

It's the inconsistency that gets me. Anyway I phoned DVLA yesterday and they were great, saying they generally fax Declarations of Authenticity to the IMT and I just needed to get...

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

Well, I did my online application back in 23.10.20, and on 17.11.20 got email from IMT Braganca (I'm the other end of Portugal in the Algarve!) asking for the 30 euro payment within 10 days, yet...

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

"Also had a (private - SNS doesn't do this anymore, at least in Algarve) medical for the IMT's"............Not strictly true - SNS in some Algarve areas still does, but it takes weeks....

Re: exchanging driving licence - where and when to make appointment?

That really is a change if the entire process can now be done online. I had the feeling the first stage could, but that they need to see you in person after that to check identity ?

Re: Experience public health care

Now this Artigo 216 has really confused me!
So this Portuguese law says under (1) that pre-existing conditions are considered to be covered by the insurer, but can also be excluded by agreement. ...

Re: Experience public health care

I am showing my ignorance here, but I am baffled! So you could have a pre-existing condition, like a bad back. Never been diagnosed, but you've been to the doctor occasionally, over a few years, for...

Hadn't realised we had an insurance professional on board! Yes, that makes sense about UK ones being pointless when you live here.
As an AFPOP member I looked in to the Allianz policy (via Medal ) ...

Re: Experience public health care

What a terrible experience that you and your family are still going through. An accident like that is bad enough, but having it drag on like this is so inconsiderate for you all. Thanks for your...

Re: Experience public health care

I've had 2 awful experiences with my family doctor at the local Centro de Saude - arrogant, he was just processing me - he was practically ushering me out within 30 seconds of entering his room. He...

Re: Buy to let in UK or Portugal

Re: Buy to let in UK or Portugal

Dont forget the actual costs of applying for NHR status either, which should be factored into your Buy2let venture. I have recently been quoted €1,000 to €2,000 for this.

Re: VOIP

I've used VOIPcheap for years but recently found several glitches on the pc version that the tech team there seem utterly indifferent to sorting.
