Hey Dave - good news, once you lodge your 457 application and your current WHV you will go on a bridging visa which allows you to continue working

I know this from personal experience, 457 lodged...

From my personal experience, I was given 28 days to submit an itinerary - but no limit apart from the 'Intial Entry date' 6 months later

At the time I was on a 457 visa, pre grant letter in...

The DIAC Immigration helplines are well known to give out misleading or wrong information over the phone, be very careful in listening to anything they tell you - I know this from personal experience...

I travelled with an Irish passport, at Christmas time without a sticker, then got one in 5 mins at the melbourne DIAC office - best of luck nellbhoy - couldn't get my passport to London in time

Can confirm that you do need to go offshore to get the WHV, you need to apply while outside of Australia so you will need to allow a few days for that to come through

Just found this on the website, www.immi.gov.au/students/_pdf/visa-label.pdf - it has 'student' in the address, but if you look at the actual PDF it does not call out any visa subclasses....

You need to be outside of Australia when you apply, I can only speak from personal experience, mine took about 24 hours to come through

Nope, you just apply online usually - there may be exceptions if you are planning on being a healthcare worker, not too sure!

As per your pre grant letter you need to inform DIAC of any changes to your travel plans, email them an updated itinerary - you don't want your visa invalidated after coming this far

Pre Grant letter only applies to those in Australia, it requires you to leave the country for visa to be granted
