Re: Moving to the Bay area - need help with public school minefield!

Jeez! Not much has changed on BE while I’ve been gone. The same bickering about an answer to a question that wasn’t even asked.

I live in the city the op is wanting to move to, I moved here when...

Re: Moving to the Bay area - need help with public school minefield!

Hi, I haven’t been on BE for a long time - came to look for something specific and of course got distracted.

I live in Mountain View, right on the Los Altos border. It’s a long time since I had to...

Re: Entering USA on old unexpired green card

My daughter arrived into Chicago on Friday evening, no problems at all, and no questions asked. That green card is now filed away in old immigration files so we don't make that mistake again.

Strangely not, it’s just become a way of life now.

Re: Entering USA on old unexpired green card

Thanks for this, good to know. In fact thinking back, we might have also have done that.

Thanks! She's not. She's saying looking at that rock over there, I want to go climb that, and going to...

Re: Entering USA on old unexpired green card

If she had a fixed itinerary I would have probably have mailed it, but they are mainly backpacking around staying at Airbnb's/campsites as they go. They're not staying at a hotel before flying back....

Re: Entering USA on old unexpired green card

It was my fault in fairness. I pulled it out of the file and gave her it. I even looked at the photo and thought doesn't she look young and cute. Doh!

I will be filing it away elsewhere when she...

Re: Entering USA on old unexpired green card

She's moving around a lot, 2 days here and there all in mountain areas. Other than flying back out from Barcelona she's not really in a major city and I'm concerned that her GC would end up at some...

Re: Entering USA on old unexpired green card

Thanks! Prior Googling suggests the same thing.

Good idea about sending her a photo of the new one. She shouldn't have any problems getting on the plane as the card numbers are the same so the...

Entering USA on old unexpired green card

Long time since I posted on here, hope everyone is doing well.

My daughter is currently in Europe, and has accidentally taken her old green card with her. It doesn't expire until 2024, and the...

Re: Looking into an E2 visa, but need information on kids

You are correct, I did, in that post. In my prior post though I had said "I love no uniforms here, there's really no need to make all kids look and dress the same". Which obviously refers to kids in...

Re: Looking into an E2 visa, but need information on kids

Not because you disagreed, but because apparently I needed to point out every instance that I meant it. When I clearly meant at school, because we were talking about not wearing uniforms to school.

Re: Looking into an E2 visa, but need information on kids

So was I. But as I don't go into the school EVERY day, I said every school event or sporting event. This includes drop off and pick up if I need to be spell it out in such detail.

Re: Looking into an E2 visa, but need information on kids

I don't agree with this. My daughter is 16, every school event or sporting event we attend, the kids are dressed differently, with their own style.

Re: Looking into an E2 visa, but need information on kids

The charter school my daughter is at is in Sunnyvale.

I love no uniforms here, there's really no need to make all kids look and dress the same.

Re: Looking into an E2 visa, but need information on kids

We're kind of hijacking the thread a little here. We're also in Silicon Valley, Mountain View, to be precise.

My daughter was 5 when we moved to Los Angeles, she went to 2 private schools there....

Re: Thoughts month after moving into Bay Area

You're welcome, glad the info came in useful for someone. I knew someone had said Los Altos.

Blossom Hill in San Jose? What happened to Los Altos, didn't you just move here a couple of months ago?

Re: Dublin and Shannon Airports Experiences

Ah right. I think it was under construction, or being renovated when we were there. I remember an area all being fenced off now.

Re: Thoughts month after moving into Bay Area

Is it you who moved to Los Altos? If so, go to The Milk Pail on the corner of San Antonio and California in Mountain View. Their produce is excellent and cheap, they have over 100 cheeses from all...

Re: Dublin and Shannon Airports Experiences

Also, don't make the mistake of going through pre-clearance too early at Dublin. There is nothing at all to do at the other side, and no access to anything other than a small newsagent style shop.

Re: Bay Area CA driving license holder needed

Yes, we were outside the 10 days, virtually impossible to do it within that window. It was 10 years ago now, but the instructions have stayed the same.

My daughter needs to book her test, I'll...

Re: Bay Area CA driving license holder needed

Both me and my husband drove ourselves to our test, no problems at all.

Why are you going all the way to Oakland to do your test when you're in Los Altos? Are appointments that full locally?

Re: What gig are you going to?

Tickets went on general sale for LA this morning, after sitting in the 'line' I was excited when the screen popped up to buy tickets. Only to see the actual tickets were all sold out, but I could buy...
