Re: That 'choice' thing in supermarkets ...

A strange viewpoint all-in-all, just because my work has transferred my role to Australia, I should either start torturing animals and not question very dodgy farming practices or should pack in my...

Re: That 'choice' thing in supermarkets ...

I would have thought the larger the population and the smaller the land area, the greater the supply of battery farmed eggs and hence the figures in Australia are staggering. I know that you can get...

Re: BBC iPlayer & ITV Player

Thanks - tried a couple of these. On UKNova it says they are not taking new members and when I go into Proxify and try the BBC iPlayer, I am still getting the same message about not being in the UK....

Re: 457 visa & getting pregnant

Not really suggesting that you just come and then take them to court, but the only way you will lose your 457 visa is if you're annual income falls below the minimum wage, certainly even in...

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

Those probably more so, as they are exactly the type of areas that the home owners grant was introduced to support, the grant has merely artificially inflated the prices in those areas by the amount...

Re: 457 visa & getting pregnant

I would assume that this is illegal, and there is currently a case being tested in the courts, not exactly the same but similar in that a nurse was sacked when she went on maternity leave as her visa...

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

Great news - hope you are settling in, and lets be honest I am sure it is a far nicer house than anything that cost 25% more than yours anyway, so all good.

p.s. ABCDiamond - all of Australia.

Re: Bringing a pillow to australia

The French feather keeps going on strike, and the Spanish feather goes to sleep all afternoon and keeps me awake partying all night. An absolute nightmare, you need the Russians, they get so drunk on...

Re: Perth or Townsville?

Re: That 'choice' thing in supermarkets ...

Re: NEWBIE!! Looking to move to Melbourne

John - it is very, very slow in Melbourne at the moment - nothing happening in the finance sector, hundreds of applications for every job. Employers, which is great for Australia, seem to be much...

Re: Debate Time - I know sensitive subject, but hey?

Simple - if you have $800,000 to buy a house today, and price falls by 20% in a year, then in a years time I would be able to buy a house that currently costs $1,000,000 - not being greedy or...

Re: Perth or Townsville?

Why the choice of these two? The general rule of thumb for Australia, is go to Sydney or stay at home. Townsville is an awful, god-forsaken place, broad hot dusty streets full of Macdonalds and KFC....

Re: Advice on shipping

Just be very careful that your quote is door-to-door & not to depot, the only thing you should pay other than the quoted amount is the $450 for customs clearance. We got three quotes and went with...
