Hi,
We used our bank and had no problems (HSBC), but have also used MoneyCorp who have been excellent tranferring monies back to the Uk with very good exchange rates at the time..

Just be careful, if you return to England and sell your property in Canada whilst not living here. You will be liable for Capital gains tax following the sale of the property.

It is true, if you are no longer residents of Canada and sell your home whilst in England, you will be liable for capital gains tax to be paid to the Canadian government.

When me and my wife landed, we went to HSBC bank and spoke to an adviser. We got a mortgage by putting 30% of the value of the house down and that was not having a job at the time.
