This year has been very poor for the gite market in the Dordogne. All my contacts are looking at 10-20% down on 2012.
Montpellier is a different market altogether but no reason to think they do any...

The root of the problem was an increase in the Pension of £200 a year. It should have been part of the Pension inflationary increase. However it was called a vote catching Winter Fuel allowance ...

This is only an opinion with no measurable basis for truth but I would say it is not possible.

The two years spent learning very basic French is two years lost learning better English. I suppose...

My friend has 2 daughters. When they arrived one was 5 and the other 8 .the younger one speaks the better French because she started with the basics that all kids start with. The older one missed all...

We only have 4 rooms available at Easter and they were all full over 5 days...

Better than last year though. Both May and Sept are now fully booked 100% but we have little deals around the town...

I too am shocked at the cost of rail travel. For two travellers rail travel is uneconomical compared to driving. for one person it's just about a break even price.

Fair comment about alcohol.My mother on Law lives with us and is alcoholic. Just today we found a can of beer hidden in a kettle. It's so difficult to watch alcohol destroy someone.
