Hi,

Anyone know whether it is cheaper to get a Renault serviced in France or UK?

We've just bought a second hand renault scenic. It needs a service as it hasn't been done for last 40,000 miles. We are spending 3 months in France from September so I was wondering if it would be cheaper to wait until we get there or do it before we go.

Because we don't "commute" any longer this may not be an accurate reply but in past years (1985-2001) we deliberately drove Renaults and Citroens and had them serviced here in France because it was a) cheaper and b) the work was always better. Don't however try to get anything done in August!

Luke - if you are in the South East of England I use an excellent small garage in Kent that specialises in French cars.
He has never ripped me off in the 20 years I have been a customer and his rates are far below the main dealers:

Where I live there are Renault dealers but there does not seem to be any standard pricing. For instance a big town main dealer will always be more expensive than a village Renult franchisee. If your French is not great then UK might be the answer as you might have more redress if thing go wrong later
