Re: Edmonton police recruitment canada

Not sure how many international recruits is 'many', but so far there's one in the current recruit class and so far only one scheduled for the next class in August. That said, I took around 13 UK...

Re: Edmonton Police Service, Alberta, Canada

I've been taking out the UK Applicants for ride-alongs lately. If you fancy it, mention to your file manager that there's a UK Expat cop in Southeast Division, Squad 1 and we'll sort something out!

Re: Edmonton Police Service, Alberta, Canada

All good questions. None of which there is a definitive answer to!
There are a few UK-expat police officers going through the process now. Maybe make contact with EPS. I think they in turn put you...

Re: Edmonton Police Service, Alberta, Canada

I'm in the EPS with only 8 years left. So we have that in common!
I'm reluctant to give advice in these forums, because ... what do I know?!
But I think you'd have to be insane to go back to shift...

Re: Edmonton Police Service, Alberta, Canada

I know someone who completed the initial application package probably in November. His BDI interview is arranged for mid-Feb and (according to him anyway) they are looking at getting him over in...

Re: Edmonton Police Service, Alberta, Canada

I have already had someone (in the police in the UK) contact me (in the police in Edmonton) about this.
From what I gather from him, you:
1. Complete the online application and then..
2. Have a...

Re: Police officer transfer from uk to Canada

I know what the price of oil is.

There are still truck drivers in Alberta making exactly what the chief says.

Re: Police officer transfer from uk to Canada

[... I've never met a truck driver making $160.000/year, but hey, he's the Chief, so he must be telling the truth, eh.[/QUOTE]

Turns out he probably was telling the truth:
"When you include...

Re: QUESTION - BRIT POLICE ABROAD

I've heard it happen, but generally for a specific purpose rather than 'shadowing'. For example, here in Canada, we've had people go over to the UK for things as diverse as seeing how PSU training is...

Re: Wapol fitness test

5 push ups doesn't sound like a lot. Do you mean you have to do 5 more than you're doing now, or you just have to do 5 in total?

Re: Canada Police ride along opportunities.

The police in Edmonton have a ride along program. Speak to the right people and you could have an expat. PM me if you're interested.

Re: Police officer transfer from uk to Canada

Couldn't tell you what 'average' EPS members get or if I constitute a genuine 'source'. But if you're working patrol and have 5 years in, you should be making about CAD$120k pa (+/- 10k). The above...

Re: Alberta residents - can I pick your brains please?

I wonder if people's expectations of life rise as soon as they emigrate. There must be a natural feeling of excitement and expectation that soon dissipates when reality sets in and you end up doing...

Re: New Canadian uk Police Recruitment 2013
