Re: Pea powder?

Lorna, that's pretty much my recipe for sweet pancakes, delicious! But for the savoury ones I don't use milk, just water.

Re: Pea powder?

Not as involved or eggy as a frittata. More like a... pancake. And when I say pancake, I mean a British-style one, as in quite large but pretty thin. We use them either like flatbreads or as wraps.

Re: Pea powder?

Have you ever tried the Novi Crema? So much better than Nutella in every way - flavour, amount of hazelnuts, no excessive bulking out with vegetable fat...

Re: Kitchen waste

Where's 'here'?
In our area of Rome they've just recently given us bottle banks, which means that glass should no longer go in with metal and plastic. Ha!

Re: Pea powder?

How about savoury pancakes? Just add an egg, water and a pinch of salt. I make pancakes using chickpea flour, rice flour, chestnut flour... they're a great accompaniment to various dishes.

Re: Kitchen waste

As GarbatellaMike said, we have a certain system here in Rome, but whether people stick to it or not is another matter. Look into any of the supposedly differentiated street bins and they'll all...

Re: Legal film streaming site?

Filmon seems to be largely (if not wholly) English language. So, of the suggestions here it seems only Infinity is a possibility. And even that doesn't seem to be well-liked. See here...

Re: Legal film streaming site?

Many thanks Modicasa, I'll take a look.
EDIT: By all accounts Netflix isn't yet available in Italy. Yes, I know of ways around that, but I'm looking for a 100% legitimate source.

Legal film streaming site?

Hello all

My wife's aunt here in Rome is uneasy with any sort of downloading that isn't strictly legal and is keen to subscribe to a site that offers legal streaming and/or downloading of films in...

Re: New Life in Rome!

Yes, welcome Nicole. We all value your presence here, I'm sure. It's good to have someone with a foot in two camps and who is, I assume, bilingual (at the very least).

Re: New Life in Rome!

Quite. Just because a term has become common, and in this case a distortion of its original usage, does not make it morally right. It's lazy use of such terms that supports bad attitudes.

Or perhaps French, Dutch, Germans? Who could you mean, in fact?

Re: Slow registered post

The 'normal' service here in Rome is generally pretty good, with stuff generally taking just a few days in either direction (assuming it isn't simply 'lost' along the way). But registered is terrible...

Slow registered post

Hello all

Has anyone else found that post sent registered, either from Italy to the UK or vice versa, takes far longer to arrive than a normally-posted letter or package? I've often noticed it and...

Re: New Life in Rome!

Giacomo - welcome to Rome (and I don't mean that ironically, given your terrible introduction to the place). Can I just say that I've been here for almost 11 years and have never had any problems...

Re: Non Resident: Scooter purchase ??

I suspect that if you own a property and have proof of such, that might well be enough in terms of residency (especially if if you're an EU citizen). But I think you will also need a codice fiscale,...

Re: Class 2 NI contributions

There's a very good thread about National Insurance on this forum (link below), and was my starting point for making enquiries, getting forecasts etc. I've just sent off my forms to apply to pay...

Re: any suggest a mover?

These are the people that we used (for a Rome-Rome move this year). They came to us highly recommended and lived up to expectations, they really were excellent. Hard-working, quick, very careful...

Re: Computer help - security

Another vote for Microsoft Security Essentials. It offers realtime protection and all of that and I have had zero problems in the two years or so that I've been using it. I run it alongside PrevX for...

Re: any suggest a mover?

From where to where? International? Domestic? I suppose we can assume by your name that you're in Lucca. We know very good movers in Rome, but that might be useless to you.

Re: Driving Licence

Duffer - there was an issue, if you read my entries carefully. On any of the official sites, the information is inconclusive, ie, it's not clear whether the 10-year period is extended whenever you...

Re: Driving Licence

OK, so this morning I received a written response from the DVLA, which says:

"Your new photograph would only be valid for a further 10 years from the date of issue. Not 10 years plus the...

Re: Driving Licence

The paper one stays the same and expires when you reach 70 years old. The plastic card with your photo has to be replaced every 10 years, presumably to keep the photo relatively current. The DVLA...

Re: Driving Licence

Thanks for the response Brioche. No, I don't have confirmation that anything has changed, but I do suspect that the person I spoke to might have got it wrong, because it makes no sense to me that the...

Re: Can I drive here with a British license?

As the renewal of the photo part of the licence has come up in this thread, I thought I'd link to a post I just put up (http://britishexpats.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9629722&postcount=32) about it,...
