Hello all
Has anyone else found that post sent registered, either from Italy to the UK or vice versa, takes far longer to arrive than a normally-posted letter or package? I've often noticed it and always wondered if it's a Rome thing or typical nationally. Now, I'm not necessarily suggesting that Poste Italiane are at fault, but...

The 'normal' service here in Rome is generally pretty good, with stuff generally taking just a few days in either direction (assuming it isn't simply 'lost' along the way). But registered is terrible and, coincidentally, one of the first times I noticed this was when a tax return of mine arrived late at DVLA despite being sent (raccomandata) a month before the deadline. My sister sent me a Christmas card (registered and priority) from England on 19 December and it arrived today, 8 January.

Last time I had to use registered post, it took a week just for the envelope to leave Italy! Ridiculous.

It's getting really bad now. This morning I received important post from UK, including Xmas stuff posted 29 Nov. Also a local water bill dated to be paid by Dec 15. I long since gave up worrying.by by dicette l'inglese,
