No Nicole, it does not. It means an non-EU citizen. Don't promote your racist viewpoints on this forum please!

Re: New Life in Rome!
The term refers to anyone living in Italy but who comes from from outside the European community legally or illegally . The media tend to specify the origins of anyone connected with crime ( to the extent that our local news paper / TV manages things like '' the man , originally from Bari but resident in Parma for 50 years '' ) but there has been a move away from equating extracommunitari with criminal , especially as so many illegal immigrants do work .

If anybody got offended by that word I am ready to apologize; but this is common Italian language and that is why I quoted the word in the original post.
Please check word reference.

If you check the original post you'll see that Giacomo only stated that he was mugged by two non italian men , they could have been English ! . you assumed they were what you choose to define as '' extracommunitari '' using the term in a derogatory fashion .

Quite. Just because a term has become common, and in this case a distortion of its original usage, does not make it morally right. It's lazy use of such terms that supports bad attitudes.

Good, you probably realise that it isn't the first time this issue has been brought up on this forum.

OK rookie mistake, I am sure we can all forgive Nicole.
Having said all that, probably still good advice to stay clear of Australians.
Especially if you are wearing an England cricket shirt.

Yes, welcome Nicole. We all value your presence here, I'm sure. It's good to have someone with a foot in two camps and who is, I assume, bilingual (at the very least).

The term is constantly misused by both media and ordinary folk. It pains me to hear hard working Rumanian neighbours still labeled as such by other neighbours.
