Re: Am I eligible to apply in Category Code 3112 of General Practitioner

Yes, I agree. NB is one of the easiest Provinces for a foreign doctor to get licensed. Newfoundland is the other that we know of.
Interesting that you say your friend had a much easier time of...

Re: Am I eligible to apply in Category Code 3112 of General Practitioner

Really? We've been in Canada on a TWP with my husband working as a GP for about 18 months now. He is considered fully qualified here in NB after a year of working under a provisional license. ...

Re: Car Travelling Times

Done both and those quoted times are pretty accurate.

Subtract about 15 to 20 minutes if you're just going to/coming from the respective airports, both of which are on the Moncton side.

Re: mortgages

Moncton, eh? Try this guy (http://www.mortgagecentre.com/index.cfm?member=stm&sl=1&CFID=1661819&CFTOKEN=20957266). He did alright by us and can probably answer your questions with more accuracy.

Re: Learn to drive over here or over there?

Another vote for learning in the UK - if she has the time and you have the money. The UK test is far harder than the Canadian one, but she'll be a better driver as a result.
Service New Brunswick...

Re: Shipping companies

A bit of advice (learned the hard way) to anyone shipping - check and double check any and all information that the shipping company provides you. Nitpick any and all discrepancies or omissions. Get...

Re: Shipping Report

Well done you. I'm jealous.

But I wonder if Mr. Spencer knows where his boxes 1-11 are.

- still extremely disgusted with our shipping company (Doree Bonner) and wishing I'd used someone...

Re: Shipping Companies? Our saga with Doree Bonner

Had an email and a phone call from the man himself; Mr. Bonner. Sadly, didn't get anything concrete, only an assurance that he was looking into it personally and that they would compare the original...

Re: Do you have a "Canadian Accent" now?

Lost count of the times I put the handbag on the seat - whilst looking around to see if anyone noticed. My worst incident was when I hopped into the car (which was parked at the curb on the High...

Re: Buyer just pulled out!

Oh dear. Huge commiserations going (both) your way!

I'll also send some of our house selling karma your way. I'm not sure you'll be all that thrilled with it though, since we managed a grand...

Re: If you are looking for removals I would not use Foxes.......

Very sorry to hear about your troubles. Is there an epidemic starting? ;)

I'm getting a strong sense that shipping companies can do whatever they please, especially once they have your stuff...

Re: Recent Shipping Quotes!

True that.
But you also have to take into consideration whether or not you have access to cheap replacements. The closest Ikea to here is in Toronto (twelve+ hour drive) Not sure where else you'd...

Re: Do you have a "Canadian Accent" now?

I never managed to pick-up a British accent (only there for five years) but I've taken to sounding Canadian after only a month. Actually, I started after our first reccy, eh. It's very seductive,...

Re: Why do Brits drive like idiots in the snow????

Meh. I can state for a fact that it's not the new immigrants causing the problems. We had the same phenomenon in New England every year. First snow; nobody seemed to know what to do and drove like...

Re: Shipping Companies? Our saga with Doree Bonner

Thanks for the replies.

I'm waiting for the promised phone call today and we'll see how it goes. I'm not nearly enough in love with the missing stuff to let them screw me over just yet. Yes, I...

Re: Shipping Companies? Our saga with Doree Bonner

Rogers doesn't come down here. We're stuck with Aliant and, although they have an international plan, it's not brilliant. And yes, there will be loads more calls to the UK since two of my husband's...

Shipping Companies? Our saga with Doree Bonner

I've mentioned my disgust with them in a few other threads but I don't want to derail any of those so I thought I'd post our experience (ongoing) with Doree Bonner International.
I'll say right off...

Re: What shipping company to use? UK to Calgary.

Ah well, if you're in Kent stay away from the Doree Bonner Canterbury office. You can tell them I said so.

Door to door from Thanet to New Brunswick cost us £5012.10 including insurance. We...

Re: Recent Shipping Quotes!

I quite agree, having your things loaded directly into a container is the best option. Unfortunately, that can only be done if you are shipping immediately (or so we were told) because the shipping...

Re: Recent Shipping Quotes!

Regarding Doree Bonner:
I'll readily concede that it might be the particular branch. Like I said, they were brilliant at the get-go; packers right on schedule (back end of Oct) , did a superb job,...

Re: Recent Shipping Quotes!

Doree Bonner, eh?
Based on our experience, I'd stay away from them.
Long story short: They were brilliant until it came time to ship our stuff, then they only sent 4/5. Haven't heard a squeak...

Re: Just Back from New Brunswick(via Boston)

Not a fan of Terry Pratchett then?

Nevermind.

Simon,
I'm well aware that £1 = aprox.C$2.00. But they'll be earning C$ and buying their fast food and groceries based on that. That's...

Re: If you could move to the US...would you?

In defense of NB, they've been about as welcoming and proactive in recruiting a GP as anyone could wish for, so it's not like they're not trying or are deliberately putting roadblocks in the way of...

We are leaving 16 Dec. but then spending the holidays in the States, so we're leaving the cats with AirPets (http://www.airpets.com/) until early Jan. Air...
