yup, I mean, what will happen if he doesn't turn up in court (aside from not being able to come back to Dubai) - it's not like they're going to extradite him on that charge, is it? If he's found guilty, that is...

I was wondering that as well. Does Dubai have extradition agreements with anyone else?

Naive question of the day: Is the (presumably Emirati) driver also being prosecuted, for threatening and abusive behaviour?

I have heard that if you get into any sort of trouble, make sure you're the first one on the phone to the cops--appartently that marks you as the wronged, and the other person as the wrongdoer. King wonderful system.

You don't appear to be familiar with the saudi mantra: If the foriegner wasn't here, it wouldn't have happened, therefore it is the foreigner's fault...

If the foreigner wasn't there, they'd have to bloody work. They want to have their shisha and smoke it.

He's only been allowed to leave as a friend has surrendered his passport - he has to come back for the court case. That's a very good friend.
