Re: Where can I buy a poppy?
I've gone all 21st Centuary and got a pin badge and wristband i bought in UK in September. Hoping someone in Saudi asked me what they are. They were more interested in the small growth under my nose for Moevember and that is spelt right. Growing it for an Iraqi mate who has cancer, he is called Moe to most of his mates. Took me over 15 mins to explain why we would do something like that for charity.

And why would you want to be part of an artificially cobbled together alliance with someone who, had you not allied yourself with them, would have waged war on you?? That makes no sense at all.

You have essentially described the relationship between scotland and england there, pre united kingdom and in fact the whole philosophy of the united states.

If that's not tongue in cheek, its one of the most unintentionally hilarious posts I have read on here for a while.

Re: Where can I buy a poppy?
Well, we managed to buy our poppies here in Muscat yesterday and will be observing the two minute silence at 1500hrs local time.
Unfortunately I've only just found out about the Remembrance Day Service at the PDO Cemetary tomorrow and have no idea where it is (Google maps notwithstanding). In fact, until we bought our poppies we had no idea that there was a Christian Cemetery in Muscat: http://andyinoman.com/2010/01/07/pdo-cemetery/ Thankfully both my grandfathers made it safely though WWII as did Mrhnd's father through the Coventry blitz although he never spoke a single word about his experience dealing with "displaced persons" in Poland after WWII. They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. |
