What's your theory?

I'm with you Ditzy. The Chinese have had plenty of time to place some strategic wreckage in the area to cover their tracks.

If there was something in there the Chinese desperately wanted and that was the primary impetus for their sizeable deployment of resources, the US would have gotten there first and got whatever it was. Uncle Sam ain't gona let the Chinese get one over him.

Well Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan have both waded into the MH370 saga.

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson was caught up in a row on Twitter after a series of tweets about the doomed Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
The row was sparked when Clarkson tweeted a photo of oxygen masks hanging down on board a flight, shortly after it was announced by Malaysian authorities that they believe flight MH370 crashed into the Indian Ocean, killing everyone on board.
The TV host accompanied his photo with the caption: 'The oxygen masks have deployed. Goodbye everyone.'
It didn't take long for hundreds of Clarkson's followers to voice their unease about his tweet, although some appeared to give him the benefit of the doubt, assuming that he hadn't heard about the MH370 announcement.
Clarkson followed it up with another post, asking: 'Right. And you thought it had been flying around for the last 3 weeks?'
Another Twitter user, who called the BBC presenter 'pathetic', found themselves on the receiving end of a riposte by Clarkson reading: 'You are indeed pathetic. We all knew it was lost several weeks ago.'
Piers Morgan has waded into the debate, branding his long-term nemesis Clarkson 'utterly shameful'.
Clarkson responded by saying: 'If you don't shut up, I shall start to reveal details of your past life that would make you VERY unhappy.'

Re: What's your theory?
Well Clarkson has made what many believe is an insensitive post regarding the Malaysian airline, and Piers Morgan has chided him for it and Clarkson hits back telling Piers to shut it or he would reveal sordid details about Piers.

Now there will be a major effort to recover the wreckage (just like AF447) and discover what happened. Because this is a major incident which affects the whole aviation industry.

Expect the big 2 to make some serious cash retrofitting self releasing EPIRBS's.

They're very cheap for yachts etc. and very effective plus accurate. But not so much for aircraft with the crash requirements placed on them. and they generally don't seem to survive impact very well.

1. There will be a big show of pretending to find the black box/FDR/CVR
2. Either it will be 'found' and there will conveniently be no data on it, or it will not be found.
3. Pilot suicide theory will be pushed to the top of the list with 'findings' of notes/etc later.
We will never know a) where it really is and b) what was so precious on board.

Anyone remember Uberlingen? That sent a HUGE shockwave across the industry on my side. AF447 and this aircraft do the same on the drivers side(and SLF to an extent).
